Although Marcus Lehto is currently hard at process V1 Interactive's upcoming FPS Disintegration, the veteran designer was at Bungie for a spell in the past. In fact, he is often credited as the father of Master Chief.

A late report from GameSpot features thoughts from Lehto on his reasons for leaving the Halo franchise rear end.

"One of the reasons I left Bungie—and I know one of the reasons people from the industry have joined United States here at V1—is that many another of us have seen the unspeakable position of extended crunch periods that would run short on for months and months," Lehto explained in a bout table interview for Disintegration. "We [V1] father't want to experience that, we wear't want to replicate that at all over again."

Lehto went on to clarify that ane of V1's primary goals is to create a work air where "everybody is intimately involved with what we're running on, so on that point is a lot of responsibility on everybody's shoulders."

According to Lehto, V1 prioritizes allowing their staff to expend time at home with their families, and "to a-okay to their kids' school concerts."

This doesn't mean crunch doesn't exist at V1, it's honorable much more controlled. Accordant to Lehto, the team whole works extra hours for the week up skyward to a development milestone—and so and simply then do they work longer than usual.

Things appear to have looked astir at Bungie in recent years, at any rate in the public eye. Just stopping point year, Bungie purposely delayed-action a Destiny 2 patch to avoid imposing crunch on its developers.

Lehto's newest game, Disintegration, is hardened to set in motion somewhere between Q1 and Q2 2020. Yet, the game's of import opens succeeding calendar week. You can mark up for it here.
